While they may not have had a huge launch at Eurobike this year, the product Campagnolo were pushing the most had one significant advantage over almost everything else: it’s free.

Yep, the new MyCampy app for iOS and Android is totally free to any devotees of the Italian brand’s components (or, for that matter, anyone even vaguely interested).

So what is it? Well, it’s basically got a couple of main functions, of which The My EPS feature is probably the smartest, as it allows EPS users to customise the shifting on their groupset from a smartphone. So you can mess around with the multi-shifting options (for example, how many sprockets you can shift in one lever stroke) and also update the firmware on your drivetrain as well as deliver diagnostics on each bit of equipment.

Then there’s My Garage, there to help Campagnolo users keep track of the mileage of their components and let them know when they might need a service or replacement. It’ll keep a running total of how far you’ve ridden with each and give you a notification when you reach the time that your chain should need upgrading or the bearings in your hubs need a look. It might seem mundane but it’s definitely something that a lot of riders could do with a little prompt when it comes to getting sorted and could save you money in the long run.

There are also performance and data analysis functions on the app, too, in a section called My Sessions. It’ll allow you to overlay your performance data with the data the app collects about the drivetrain, right down to showing you when and where you shifted gears in your last ride.

The final function is a Campagnolo news feed – called Campagnolo World – which will keep you up to date with all the latest from the Italian company. The app isn’t out just yet, but is expected to land sometime in November as development is very nearly complete. For more info, check out the Campagnolo site.
