Prendas Ciclismo’s Rocket Espresso range raises £12,000 for Dave Rayner Fund

Seven-piece range helping to raise funds for young British riders

Prendas Ciclismo’s Rocket Expresso clothing range, which helps to raise money for the Dave Rayner Fund, has resulted in more than £12,000 worth of donations so far.

The online clothing specialist teamed up with the handmade espresso machine producer to launch the clothing range, with both firms jointly donating to the fund for every garment sold.

Set up in 1995 in memory of former British pro Dave Rayner, who died after an altercation with a Bradford nightclub bouncer the previous year, the fund helps to support British riders looking to ride in Europe – with David Millar and Adam Yates among the most notable recipients.

And Prendas and Rocket Espresso have now made five payments in all, thanks to sales on the range which includes a cotton cap (£7.50), long-sleeve jersey (£69.95), bib shorts (£89.95) and GORE windstopper gilet (£75) – all hand-made in Italy by Santini.

Coolmax socks (£6.95) and a short-sleeve jersey (£55) complete the range, which can be bought online on the Prendas website.

Mick Tarrant, of Prendas Ciclismo, said “It gives us great satisfaction to be involved in a project that benefits something as worthy as the Dave Rayner Fund.

“Since the late 1990’s, we have provided many young aspiring riders with our own-brand clothing and if we assembled a hypothetical team, we’d have a competitive male and female World Tour team!”
