Eyewear specialists look to break into the helmet market with two models
Bolle have followed in the footsteps of fellow eyewear specialists like Smith Optics and announced their first foray into the bike helmet market.
There are two lids: the One and the Messenger, with the former aimed at roadies while the latter will appeal more to the city riding crowd.
On the surface, the One appears to be an aero road helmet, but it’s actually far more, with the aero vent covers being detachable – just like a conventional aeroshell – so you’re effectively getting two helmets in one.
But that’s not the only smart feature, as the rear of the helmet has an integrated LED light and a scannable QR code containing your personal information if needed in the event of a crash. If you don’t fancy using the light, it can be removed and replaced with a plug to fill the hole.
On the inside, the helmet has interchangeable liners with varying levels of warmth according to season, including a thermal one that provides full head and ear cover for when it’s really cold.
At the front, there’s a garage for your sunglasses (designed to work best with Bolle glasses, naturally) and a removable visor in case you fancy going off-road.
The One lid will come in at two price points: £89 for the standard helmet, and £109 for the premium version that includes the light and accessories, while the Messenger lid will come in at £69 and £89.
