Mark Cavendish and Sir Bradley Wiggins will reunite for the Madison at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in London at the start of the next month.
Cavendish, fresh from his Tour of Qatar win on the road, has been selected in Great Britain’s 21-strong squad for the event at the Lee Valley VeloPark, which runs from Wednesday March 2 to Sunday March 6.
And the Manxman will compete in both the omnium and the Madison in London, pairing up with Wiggins as they bid to replicate their 2008 World Championship success in the latter event.
Eight riders have been selected in the men’s endurance squad in all, including fit-again Ed Clancy – who, alongside Jon Dibben, are the other riders in contention with Cavendish for an Olympic omnium spot.
Owain Doull, Chris Latham and former world champions Andy Tennant and Steven Burke complete the men’s endurance line-up.
