It’s September and the cyclo-cross season is now ‘officially’ underway with many of the UK’s 15 regional leagues due to begin in the next few weeks (and, if you are near enough the front of races to score British Cycling’s National Ranking points, the actual scoring period runs from 31 August, 2010 to 28 February, 2011).
The interest in this winter branch of cycle racing continues to increase year by year and many of the leagues have reported bumper entries as more riders come along to see what cyclo-cross is all about. The league in the north east of England was rebadged and relaunched as CXNE last season and a new league was established in the BC central region. The bike manufacturers have also reacted to the trend and there are now very few major companies who do not include at least one ‘cross frame in their range.
