More goodies to be found at next week’s London Bike Show…
Here’s a new offering from NeilPryde, who will use the show for the European launch of its Bayamo time trial bike, expected to hit the shops in the ‘first half of 2012’. The Bayamo is thought to be a further offering for time trial/triathlon speed merchants impressed by last year’s aero profiled Alize, which offered a choice of seatposts for time trial/tri or conventional riding positions. The Bayamo will be available in two different configurations, with standard and ‘Plus’ models.
We’ve yet to see one in the flesh (we’ll have to wait until next week, too) but from the image, it certainly looks fast. The seat tube cuts away around the rear wheel, suggesting good acceleration, while the bayonet-style integrated fork/steerer/head tube configuration and the heavily profiled tubes first seen on the Alize give the appearance of frame incorporating the latest aero technology.
Punters at next week’s four-day bicycle bonanza will also be treated to a technicolour display courtesy of the products of NeilPryde’s custom paint shop. Customers purchasing a machine in 2012 will be able to specify their own colourways at an extra charge.
Still in its infancy as a bike brand (they’ve recently celebrated their first anniversary on the UK market) the London Bike Show may offer the first opportunity for many British bike lovers to cast an eye over the company’s rather elegant offerings. Expect to find examples of their work more easily in 2012 with announcements on new dealers across the UK planned during the year ahead.
Keen to make their mark in cycling (windsurfers will have known their products for years) NeilPryde is backing the United Healthcare team in 2012, an American outfit racing in the UCI’s Pro Continental series, just one step from the top-tier WorldTour. The team, which is also set to race in this year’s Tour of Britain, has been equipped with NeilPryde’s top-of-the-line Diablo model.
The London Bike show will be held at the Excel centre and starts on Thursday January 12.
