Chain catchers are gaining in popularity: light weight, easily attached devices for keeping your chain in check.
Madison announced last month that they will be bringing in the K-Edge chain catcher favoured by Andy Schleck, who learned their benefit in the most testing of circumstances.
Here’s the new offering from SRAM. Initially sold only as part of the new Red groupset, from June 1 it will be sold separately for £27.99.
Two versions are available: one for braze on mechs, and a clamp band attachment available in 31.8mm and 34.9mm configurations. The clamp band will sell for £29.99.
A claimed weight of 12g for the catcher means it’s unlikely to slow you down. SRAM say it is compatible across their road range and with standard, compact, cyclo-cross and time-trial set-ups.
Positioning is adjusted with a 2.5mm screw.
