Here’s a first look at the LAS Victory Supreme helmet, an Italian lid heavy on style and light in weight.
The small size we have on test (for head circumferences between 53cm and 59cm) has a claimed weight of 230g but tickled our scales at 261g (fully laden with bug net and padded chin strap).
A dial mechanism at the rear of the helmet controls a ratcheted strap that tightens and loosens the cradle. Early trials suggest this is simple to use and effective.
The internal lining is provided in a single, antibacterial sheet, padded and perforated in different sections, presumably to provide a balance between ventilation and comfort. It should also keep the bugs out. Three gel pads line the centre and front sides of the helmet.
Aggressive styling gives the Victory Supreme a race ready appearance, and an aerodynamic profile. The deep red is a striking finish, but may not be for everyone. Anthracite grey and white are also available.
The strap is secured at three points inside the polysteryne shell, and locks with a magnetic clip. This is the first of the kind we’ve encountered, but after initial fumbling, we found it sealed easily.
A host of accessories are provided, including a cylindrical, zippable ‘hat’ box, a bag, spare liner pads, and a visor.
It comes in two sizes: small (53cm to 59cm) and large (57cm to 62cm).
