A SRAM PowerLock in action |
This one wears code letter J |
Product affected: SRAM PowerLock Connector Link (for SRAM 10 Speed Chain)
SRAM has issued a recall notice covering PowerLock connector links for 10-speed chains bearing the production code letter M or N.
There is a small risk, of less than one percent, that the PowerLock connector link outer plate of links manufactured in early 2009 might fail. These may be identified by the letter codes listed above. Drive chain failure is a safety issue.
As a result SRAM is retrieving from the marketplace and replacing all affected SRAM 10 speed chain PowerLock connector links. A crack may develop in one of the side plates during installation or early in the working life of the link.
