Here’s a sneak peak at a new wheel from Shimano brand, PRO.
Titled the TeXtreme, Shimano say the wheel utilizes carbon fibre yarns spread into tapes, a technology they claim is new to cycling.
The tapes are arranged in the straightest orientation possible for optimum strength to weight ratio, the Japanese manufacturer says.
The 24mm, aerofoil rim will revolve around Shimano’s new Dura Ace 11-speed hub (compatible with their 10-speed cassettes when used with spacers).
The wheel has a nominal weight of 975 grams, and will be launched at the Eurobike show in Germany in August.
