London cycling grants available

The popularity of cycling continues to grown in the capital

Twenty-five grants of up to £5,000 apiece are available for cycling projects in London through Transport for London.

The grants are part of the TfL-funded Community Cycling Fund for London (CCFL) scheme, administered by the London Cycling Campaign to “to provide more people with the opportunity to cycle more often.”

Applications can be made between May 20 and June 3 via the LCC website.

Previous grants have helped fund the purchase of capital goods (bikes, tools, equipment), as well as to provide training to enable people from London’s diverse communities to experience the benefits of cycling.

“This is all about helping the smaller cycling groups within London to pass on their enthusiasm for cycling to local people,” said London Major Boris Johnson.

“There is an army of potential cyclists within the boundaries of our great capital. The smaller community groups this funding is meant for have the local know-how that will help them encourage other Londoners to take to two wheels.”
