Nocturne Series goes to Blackpool

The final instalment of the 2009 Nocturne Series will take place in Blackpool on Saturday 1 August. The famous seaside town will offer a chance to experience night time bike racing under the glow of the Blackpool Tower and promenade illuminations.

The Nocturne Series has proved to be a hit since its first event in Smithfield, London in 2007 and has attracted star names such as Chris Hoy, Mark Cavendish, David Millar and Cameron Meyer. The Blackpool event will once again feature a host of British Olympians and organisers are hoping to attract several continental stars fresh from the Tour de France.

The Nocturne Series’ official charity partner, Right To Play will be present to hand out event programmes to spectators around the circuit, donations are welcome to the charity which uses sport and play to provide basic education to 720,000 children in 23 countries each week giving children the life skills and confidence necessary to make the most of their lives.

Following successful fundraising at the Nocturne in Edinburgh in London so far this year, the charity are providing a new and exciting way to connect the two cities through cycling with the first ‘Pedal Power the Change’ ride, a fully supported 6 day challenge ride between Edinburgh and London.

Right to Play are also the official charity partner to Team Columbia who will be bringing Tour de France green jersey contender Mark Cavendish to start the ride in Edinburgh on 18 August.

In an exclusive opportunity all ride registrants will be entered into a draw for five people to win a training session with Mark Cavendish and other Team Columbia pros. If you can persuade a friend to sign up to the ride, Right to Play will also enter you into a draw to win a Scott Speedster S40 2009 road bike worth £900.

There are only a few places left so sign up via www.righttoplay.org.uk. More Blackpool Nocturne information at www.blackpoolnocturne.com.
