Want to know what Mark Cavendish was up to just prior to the Tour de France?
The world road race champion was pedaling the roads of Surrey, getting a feel for the Olympic road race course.
His workout included several laps of Box Hill, the most grueling stretch of the Olympic route, before he switched his focus to the Tour de France, which started on Saturday.
After the session, Cavendish tweeted: “Flew to Surrey for the day for my last real chance of some full-gas efforts up the Olympic route of Box Hill.”
The Olympic road race will be held on Saturday July 28, just six days after the finish of the Tour de France.
The cycling team were the first of many Team GB squads to set up pre-Games training camps in Surrey, a county council spokesman said.
Team GB’s cycling competitors, Germany, New Zealand, Canada, USA, and Australia, have also been seen training in the county.
Surrey County Council’s Helyn Clack said she was thrilled to see the teams arriving.
