dhb Merston Long Sleeve Jersey – £29.99
Los Angeles based swrve is a small clothing company with big products, producing clothing that’s affordable and functional while being stylish all at the same time.
For urban cyclists there are few choices: lyrca, no thanks; rolled-up jeans, not really; or one of the growing numbers of three-quarter cycling specific shorts available. Swrve’s three-quarters are cut the right length, clearly easily the chain when pedaling and providing all sorts of useful features for the daily round-town cyclist.
It’s clear they’ve been designed by a cyclist, because they work without fuss or causing grief on the bike. The pockets are positioned carefully, with no forward pockets but two generous rear bum-mounted pockets, a nifty pocket for your phone and even some loops to hang the ubiquitous diddy d-lock off.
Comfort while riding is great, with a relaxed cut giving plenty of room for movememt and the materials 4-way stretch means they’re not fighting against you, but gently stretching with the smooth circular motions of your legs. The material is water and wind resistant and soft to the touch, and the waist is cut higher at the back to avoid the dreaded builders bum.
Crucially, there’s a seamless gusseted crotch so there’s nothing to cause discomfort.
All swrve products are made in the USA and the company is committed to ethical manufacturing.
Verdict
A good medium weight long sleeve jersey that performs brilliantly, even before taking the price into account

Full-length zip would be nicer, lacks protection from wind
