dhb Merston Bib Tights £35.99
There’s a general rule that the more you pay, the better a product you get. But, as with the few dhb products tested recently, this is sometimes far from the case. The Merston bib tights are Wiggle’s best selling tights, and priced at less than £40 they certainly raised a few eyebrows when they landed in the RCUK office.
Before I talk about how they performed, the features. They’re made from a Thermo-stretch fabric, fleece lined and wind resistant for warmth, and the fleece extends to the straps too. The knees have an extra layer of material which doesn’t hinder knee movement at all, but provides extra warmth to your knee joints. Ankle and bib zips eliminate any struggling to pull them on, and the ankles get silicone grippers to keep the legs in place.
And it’s not like they’ve skimped in the padding department either. The Coolmax lined SilverDry chamois is surprisingly comfortable, given the low price tag, and they’re easily as comfortable as bibs that cost three or four times as much. So you could conceivably buy several pairs of these instead of one really expensive pair – ideal for commuting.
In use, and they’ve been getting loads of use, they were incredibly comfortable, more than I was expecting. And the fit is spot on, the extra material covering the knee is a welcome addition, they’re warm due to the fleece lining, and all for less than £40. These are the best reasonably priced bib tights ever tested on RCUK.
Verdict
With bibs this staggeringly good at this price, it makes us wonder why you’d need to spend anymore
