Less than a fortnight ago Frenchman Christophe Riblon was writing his name into Tour de France as he conquered a double ascent of Alpe d’Huez to the delight of adoring home fans.
His victory on one of the most famous and feared climbs on the Tour was the only win by a Frenchman at the 100th edition of cycling’s greatest race and it also saw him named Super Combative.
And the French will have raised a glass or two to Riblon again as he proved his success on the Alpe d’Huez was no flash in the pan, soloing to victory in stage two of the Tour of Poland.
As Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky) continued his recovery from injury with a strong support ride for Sergio Henao, the Ag2r-La Mondiale stormed to victory on the second of two Italian stages.
The riders will now enjoy a rest day before resuming hostilities on Polish soil from tomorrow, Tuesday July 30, so in the mean time relive the action from stage two with this gallery of Stefano Sirotti’s images.
