The focus of the cycling world will turn to Yorkshire next July when the county hosts the Grand Depart of the Tour de France.
But if you want to steal a march on the tens of thousands of cycling fans expected in northern England in little under a year’s time, head to Leeds Town Hall on September 20, 21, or 22 for the inaugural Yorkshire Bicycle Show.
“Yorkshire is a rich tapestry of cycling success. Its pedaling powerhouses include the likes of Beryl Burton, Lizzie Armitstead, Brian Robinson and Barry Hoban,” said a spokesman for the show.
“Its rolling hills and sleepy vales provide a haven for Sunday club runs, tea-stops and cake, and its industry is welded together by local frame builders such as Ricky Feather. Yorkshire is at the heart of cycling’s past, present and future. And things are only going to get better.”
RCUK has joined forces with the show’s organisers, Welcome To Yorkshire, the team behind the county’s successful bid to host cycling’s greatest race, and will be hosting guest talks from some of the most exciting and influential bespoke frame builders.
The three-day festival, to be held in the Victorian splendor of Leeds’ Grade 1 listed Town Hall, includes Ricky Feather, Dan Rusby, and Reynolds among its exhibitors.
A website listing all of the show’s attractions was launched today, on a date dubbed “Yorkshire Day” by the organisers.
The final day of this year’s show has been chosen to coincide with the final stage of the Tour of Britain.
