Sussex-based USE put the new TULA aero bar on display at the TCR show, and backed it up with a clip-on design so new it does not yet have a name. Tested with the help of multiple UK tt champion Michael Hutchinson, the TULA design is claimed to be the most aerodynamic design available, and has been drawn up using CFD analysis to optimise airflow.

It features airfoil brake levers placed directly in front of the airfoil ‘Attack’ bar and pivoting in bomb-shaped pods. There is a choice of straight and cranked extension bars in both aluminium and carbon-fibre. Patented ball joints allow each forearm rest to be aligned independently of the bars.

USE has also developed a lightweight clip-on aerobar with input from Elite GB triathlete Richard Stannard. Using the same multi-adjustable armrest mounts, the new bar is suitable for events that do not allow the tri bar extensions to protrude in front of the brake lever hoods. Longer extensions are available. No figures yet, but expect weight to be very attractive thanks to minimalist structure.
