SRAM model year 2015 hydraulic brakes to be available ‘from second half of April’

Groupset manufacturer outlines recall replacement plan

SRAM’s model year 2015 hydraulic rim and disc brakes will be available from “the second half of April”, according to a statement released revealing the groupset manufacturer’s recall replacement plan.

SRAM issued a full product recall for all road hydraulic rim and disc brakes in December and advised riders to “stop use immediately” following reported failures in freezing conditions at US cyclo-cross races.

But the American company has now outlined a replacement plan for customers. Riders can switch to a mechanical setup by contacting their local SRAM dealer, before upgrading to the updated model year 2015 hydraulic system when it becomes available. Details of the updated brakes are yet to be revealed.

“We hope that you will choose to upgrade and experience the benefits of a great hydraulic braking system,” read a SRAM statement. Customers who want to keep the mechanical system will receive a cash reimbursement of $200 or 150 euros.
