Bradley Wiggins will ride this Pinarello Dogma K Think2 when he returns to Paris-Roubaix for the first time since 2011 on Sunday.
Wiggins and his Team Sky team-mates rode the regular race-day Pinarello Dogma 65.1 Think 2 over the cobbles of the Tour of Flanders but the harsh pavé of Paris-Roubaix steps things up a notch and the Dogma K has been deployed as a result. It says much about the brutality of Paris-Roubaix – and its prestige – that Team Sky have a fleet of bikes ready and waiting for one race.
The Dogma K replaces the Dogma 65.1’s trademark wavy seatstays with something altogether slimmer and is said to offer a more cushioned ride as a result. The head and seattube angles have also been relaxed a touch to improve the frame’s stability over the cobbles, while there’s also additional tyre clearance to run wider tyres – again to help take the sting out of the pavé.
Besides a change of frame and the plush 27mm FMB Paris-Roubaix tyres, Wiggins’ bike has been prepped by Team Sky’s mechanics to take everything the race can throw at it.
The handlebar has been double-wrapped, Wiggins’ regular 53-39t Shimano Dura-Ace chainrings have been swapped for a 53-44t combination owing to the pan-flat parcours, Di2 satellite shifters provide easy gear changes when attacking the cobbles, and Team Sky’s regular carbon fibre bottle cages have been swapped for Elite Ciussi cages, with additional grip tape to ensure Wiggins’ bottles remain in place when bumping over the farm tracks of northern France. Wiggins’ Fizik Arione saddle also has extra padding to soften the blow of the 28 pavé sectors.
