Seasoned campaigner Dean Downing (NFTO Pro Cycling) rode his final Tour Series event in Woking last night (Tuesday June 10).
After a career which has seen him crowned national criterium champion and achieve a host of domestic successes – including being ranked British number one – and represent Rapha Condor JLT and Madison-Genesis in recent years, the 39-year-old’s final year as a professional is being spent with new British UCI Continental team, NFTO.
Riding alongside brother Russell this year, Dean has already finished second at the Cycle Wiltshire Grand Prix and will defend his Beaumont Trophy title in the North East this month.
With his final Tour Series appearance beckoning, however, Downing was at the London Nocturne where fellow soon-to-retire NFTO rider James McCallum finished third in the elite men’s criterium.
And we took a closer look at Downing’s SwiftCarbon Ultravox TI – the striking machine being used by the team in their debut year.
