Sportive riders can tackle a one-hundred mile route from Skipton in the company of six-time Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy after the Scottish great teamed up with Evans Cycles to launch the Hoy One-Hundred sportive.
The sportive will take in 11,000ft of climbing over some of the toughest ascents in the Pennines, passing close to the Tour de France route.
Set against the stunning, rolling Lake District countryside, the 100-mile event will take place on Sunday September 7, while a 45-mile route is also available.
“I can’t wait although it’s a bit daunting because I know it’s going to be really tough but it gives me something to aim for,” said Hoy.
“It will be great to see so many people on the day and hopefully I’ll get to chat and ride with lots of them.”
Entry for both the long and short courses costs £35, with 20 per cent of the fee going to SAMH, Scotland leading mental healthy charity and Hoy’s charity of choice. The entry fee includes a pre-ride breakfast and post-ride hot meal.
Well-stocked feed stations, rider support, mechanics and a broom wagon will also feature in the event, alongside marked routes, waterproof maps, a HOY goody bag and electronic timing.
A ‘gold experience’ entry package, which will include pre-registration, tickets for a Q&A evening with Sir Chris, a pasta dinner, camping pitch and event t-shirt is also available for £70.
