2004 Paris Roubaix champion Magnus Backstedt will be riding the Sigma Sport/Integra SP Surrey League Revolutions 5-Day which starts tomorrow (August 19th) at Rake in West Sussex. So that should be enough to scare the be-jezus out the UK based pro-riders.
The Liquigas Bianchi professional was pulled out of this years Tour de France and has been suffering from sinusitis. Magnus is now putting in the final preparations for the Tour of Spain which starts on August 27th.
With no major sponsor this year the Surrey League are pleased to announce that Sigma Sport, Integra SP, Tekno Fuel, Impsport and Jackson Print have all agreed to support this years event. So please support the sponsors, as follows:
Sigma Sport will be sponsoring the yellow jersey for the best rider overall on time.
Integra SP will be sponsoring the green jersey for the best rider overall on points.
Impsport will be sponsoring the King of the Mountains jersey.
Tekno Fuel will be sponsoring the stage winners.
And Jackson Print will be looking after the programme printing.
The UK’s longest stage race starts on Friday 19 August, and each day sees the participants racing on circuits in different parts of the Region. This year’s route revisits some of the favourite spots from previous years such as the South Downs at Goodwood and the Ashdown Forest.
