Strength training with Jo McRae – part two
Talk to any professional cyclist or the small army of coaches and bike fitting specialists who work with them and they’ll tell you that core training – strengthening muscles in the midriff – is as important to cycling performance as time spent in the saddle. Top cycle coach, Jo McRae, whose specialises in a holistic approach, is well placed to advise how.
Jo set the ball rolling last week – literally – with a demonstration of how to strength core muscles with a Swiss ball. Having established the importance of correct technique before adding weight, this week Jo demonstrates a series of unweighted squats and those performed with a stick.
