Colnago CLX
Colnago CLX
The first full bike that Colnago offer is the CLX. Aimed as a pared down version of the V1-r, the Italians have aimed this bike to provide a compromise offering a solid level of stiffness, lightness and comfort. And the result is a more forgiving package than some of the all-out race bikes higher up the range.
The oversized seattube sits on top of the same Threadfit 82.5 bottom bracket from the V1-r and C60, but favours a 27.2mm seatpost for added comfort.
Claimed frame weight is 950 grams, so it’s still a rather light proposition – and lighter than the C60 – but Colnago only offer the CLX in a single build: Shimano Ultegra 6800 with Fulcrum Racing 5 wheels, Deda bars and stem and an own-brand seatpost. All this will set you back £3,499 so while Colnago call it their affordable race bike, it’s all relative.
