Adidas have given us a glimpse of their spring/summer 2015 collection, and there’s a definite meeting of the old and new as their classic three-stripe is design paired with technical aero kit.
After spending time in the wind tunnel, Adidas have developed ‘dragzero’ fabric used on the outer layer of their Adistar short sleeved jersey, which also features a fully covered zipper for more marginal aero gains.
The £80 jersey also uses an open mesh structure to improve breathability, moisture transfer and provide what Adidas hope will be a high level of comfort for all riders.
The range also includes matching Adistar bib shorts (£120), made from ‘Carvico Revolutional Energy’ fabric which is said to be compressive, aiming to reduce the vibrations in the legs that contribute to fatigue. They’ve also been in the wind tunnel, and benefit from ‘Trailing Edge’ hems that aim to smooth airflow over the shorts. The pad is four-density with varied thickness and Adidas claim you’ll get six hours of comfort from the pad.
As a top layer, the Pluvius jacket (£135) is a water-resistant, packable option that goes in your back pocket to call into action if the weather takes a turn for the worse. It has dual zippers on the front for plenty of ventilation and a storm flap at the back. It’s also made from a four-way stretch fabric, with the intention that that it’ll move with you, rather than inhibit you when you’re riding.
The cd.zero3 women’s jersey (£80) uses much of the same technology as the men’s, but pairs it with a dedicated women’s fit and compressive material to support the upper body muscles. Similarly, the women’s bodysuit (£100) is made from the same material and multi density pad as the male bib shorts, but combines all that with a specially tailored upper section designed to be a more comfortable fit for women. The range also includes long sleeve versions of the men’s and women’s jerseys.
Finally, the cd.zero3 gloves (£27) are a unisex offering with a mixed ‘Lorica’ synthetic suede and ‘Goatskin’ leather palm complimented with EVA foam cushioning. They also have rounded finger pulls to make removal nice and easy, which can be especially tough after a long, hard ride.
