Bio-Racer Anato Breeze Jacket £69.99 Anato Gale Bib-Knicks £76.99
Bioracer is now the biggest cycle clothing manufacturer in Belgium, occupying a modern factory building on the outskirts of Tessenderlo. Having moved on from the frame fitting system for which it is most widely known, at least in the UK, the company now supplies cycling teams and clubs across Europe, including the Belgian cycling federation, with top-quality race clothing.
Bioracer’s sublimation shop, which applies the team strips and designs to the clothing, is state-of-the-art and can reproduce a photograph on small quantities of clothing within about half an hour.
Besides race kit, Bioracer also makes off-the-peg cycling kit, including the Anato range. This features in both the winter and summer online catalogues, which is fair enough because the Breeze long-sleeved jacket and Gale bib-knicks tested here are suitable for wear in a wide range of weather conditions. The fabric in the former is called Active Soft, and is thick enough for late winter chill without feeling overly stuffy as spring kicks in. There are three large pockets on the back and a Bio-Racer labelled ‘Anti-Slip Strip’ on the inside of the waist seam.
The bib-knicks are in Super Roubaix material and have Bio-Racer’s own Airstripe Stretch Multilevel insert. The same gripper strip is provided around the lower edge of the leg. The multi-panel tailored fit is very precise and snug, and with well-sized shoulder straps makes for a really comfortable experience over a long distance. A short zip in the front makes for easy hedge stops. The red panel is a slight mismatch for the red of the jacket. The insert is well-shaped and unnoticed in use. Available in sizes S-XXL and colours black, black-red and black-grey. As a combination, only lacks exact colour co-ordination. Great wearing comfort with excellent seat insert and sturdy construction Comfortable, well-made, durable fabrics Not quite colour co-ordinatedVerdict
