The Halo high-vis trend from the XXX LE road shoes continues into Bontrager’s apparel with some pretty impressive new kit.
The Velocis Halo jersey and Velocis Halo bib shorts both have healthy helpings of the Halo material incorporated and what that means is that when you’re out riding and get hit by car headlights, you light up like a proverbial Christmas tree. They promise to be a great choice for anyone looking for something that will combine performance and an extra touch of safety thrown into the bargain.
The shorts also feature Bontrager’s new inForm chamois design. Previously, the pads have featured variable thickness and a design where those changes in thickness were visible on the surface. Now all pads have this ‘OverEasy’ construction where the profiled section of the pad is flipped upside down to press against the saddle, while the flat part of the pad sits against the skin.
All the pads in Bontrager’s range are the result of a year-long inForm BioDynamic research study that’s combined quantitative pressure mapping data and qualitative pro rider feedback to change the dimensions of the chamois. The result is what Bontrager believe to be an optimised footprint, form and foam density in both the perineum and ischial tuberosities areas for men and women. You can also get a pressure mapping specific to you using Trek’s fitting system.
Elsewhere, one of our favourite pieces in the extensive spring/summer 2016 collection is this super cool Ballista jersey (that also comes with matching bib shorts). Fabric is Profila Dry infused with ColdBlack technology which will help to keep you cool, and it has strategically placed mesh inserts that’ll also aid breathability. It’s also pro-fit, so deigned to be close against the body. And on top of all that, it looks fantastic, too.
