The action continued at Calshot’s winter track league on Sunday as riders turned out for more fun and games on the super steep boards.
Ryan James of primera_bournemouth.co.uk, has stormed ahead already and is currently leading the league with 32 points, closely followed by Swindon Road Clubs Adam Thompson with 20 points.

In joint lead of the Junior category are talented young riders, Ben Plain and David Sinclair, who have both put in top performances this year to rack up six points each. Closely following is Tom Butt who consistently attacked on Sunday to break away from the main bunch and win several events. Managing to regularly lap the field, Tom is flying in his first year as a Junior.
The indoor track league is a great way to keep racing over the winter and stay protected from the elements. Included in the speedy programme of events are sprints, points races, unknown distance and loads more for both senior and youth riders.

If however, you’re looking for some slightly more steady riding, don’t be put off. The racing is split into A and B categories to cater for a mixed field of riders and if you don’t fancy competing, there are plenty of opportunities to join in on some beginner’s sessions throughout the year. If you want a slice of the action, either to race or watch, get down to Calshot on Sunday afternoons at around 1pm. Organised by British Cycling’s South Division, the league runs between 9 October and 19 December, breaks for some festivity and then runs again from 8 January to 5 February.
