Campagnolo unveil Scirocco H35mm and Zonda wheels

Hot on the heels of last week’s Athena EPS electronic groupset launch, Campagnolo have unveiled the Scirocco H35mm and Zonda wheelsets as part of their 2013 product line-up.

The Campagnolo Scirocco now comes with a rim depth of 35mm

The Scirocco H35mm is, as the name suggests, a 35mm deep version of the existing Scirocco aluminium clincher, which was previously only available with a 24mm rim.

Campagnolo describe the wheels as “aerodynamic and yet easy to handle, responsive and light, but with all the advantages of a standard tyre wheel with aluminium braking surface.”

The wheels have 18 spokes at the front and 21 at the rear, laced on to an aluminium hub. The wheelset weighs a claimed 1,725g, while a cyclo-cross version is also available with a claimed improvement to the hub seal for protection when used off road.

The Zonda 2-Way Fit (suitable for clinchers and tubeless) hoops have a 26mm rim depth at the front and 30mm at the rear, with 18 and 21 spokes respectively, laced to an aluminium hub, and are billed by Campy as a training wheel.

The rear wheel uses Campagnolo’s ‘Mega G3’ spoke pattern (spokes grouped in threes at the rim), which the manufacturer claims delivers optimal spoke tension and reduces vibration, even with heavier riders. The claimed weight for the wheelset is 1,555g.

UK prices and availability for both wheelsets are to be confirmed.
