Campagnolo have unveiled a limited edition Super Record groupset launched to celebrate the Italian firm’s 80th anniversary.
Just 2,013 of the 11-speed mechanical groupsets will be manufactured, each will carry a unique serial number and be presented in a special case which documents some of Campagnolo’s innovations since the company was founded by Tullio Campagnolo in Vicenza, Italy, in 1933. (UPDATE: 25/02/2013: UK pricing has been confirmed at £2,599 for the complete group)
The 80th Anniversary Collection, as it’s known, will use what Campagnolo describe as a new humid-state microsanding finish on carbon fibre parts, a new opaque finish on aluminum parts and a new treatment for intricate technical parts to ensure the 1,862g groupset stands the test of time and use.
Campagnolo also say the celebratory logo, which features on every part of the groupset, is also the result of “countless hours of research and testing” to ensure it resists “the harshest and most aggressive cleansing agents”.
Campagnolo have also unveiled two matching wheelsets. The 80th Anniversary full carbon wheelset weighs a claimed 1,310g, while the aluminium/carbon hoops weigh 280g more at a claimed 1,590g. Both wheelsets have 50mm-deep rims and use Campagnolo’s G3 spoke pattern, Cult bearings and oversized hub flanges. Wheel prices are to be confirmed.
Full details of the 80th Anniversary groupset and wheels will be unveiled on Monday March 4. In the mean time, flick through the gallery below.
