Colnago is one of the most emotive bike brands in the world, conjuring up images of true champions racing through the toughest conditions to win.
Colnago’s current entry level bike, the Primavera offers an aluminium frame with variable butted tubes (the downtube is triple butted) with a carbon fork and a finishing kit that includes Shimano’s Tiagra, FSA cranks and finishing parts, Prologo saddle, Shimano R500 wheels and Vittoria tyres. For this little lot, Colnago ask £1,099.95.
The bike doesn’t look entry level however. The frame and fork are finished to Colnago’s usual high standard with the collection of colours used working well to good effect. The downtube is clover-shaped and the chainstays leaf-shaped with the profile of both claimed to increase stiffness.
The Primavera has a lot going for it, but it’s also up against some very stiff competition in this price bracket. Once we’ve logged some miles aboard back we’ll let you know how it stands up.
