“Everyone wants to win the Tour, it’s just how much,” says 1987 Triple Crown winner Stephen Roche.
The Irishman is one of four ex professional riders brought together by Dare2b to form ‘The Brotherhood’ – the inspiration for the apparel brand’s spring/summer 2016 clothing collection.
Roche, who won the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and World Championships in his Triple Crown year, is joined by 2006 Tour winner Oscar Pereiro, who lent his expertise and experience in the development of Dare2b’s flagship AEP range; former British champion Tim Harris; and Vuelta a Espana stage winner Angelo Furlan as the quartet get together to ride and look back on their careers in the video above, shot in Spain.
Discussing their rise to the top and the sacrifices they made along the way, the quartet offer a frank insight into what it takes to make it to the upper echelons of the sport – while remembering to stay in touch with what helped them fall in love with cycling in the first place.
“Of course it hurts but the next day you’re back looking for victory. That is the spirit of cycling,” Furlan summarises.
Alongside the AEP collection, Dare2b’s Brotherhood range includes four pro-inspired jerseys: the £60 Signature Tour, available in ‘fairway green’ or ‘fiery red’; the £50 Retribute, available in black or ‘sky diver blue’; the £40 Comeback Jersey, on offer in neon green, methyl blue or fiery red; and the entry-level £30 Countdown, which comes in the black, sky diver blue and fairway green options alongside a fluro yellow alternative. A selection of bib shorts and tights, and the AEP jacket complete the Brotherhood range.
