dhb Merston ¾ Bib Tights – £34.99
The importance of keeping your knees protected from the elements as the temperature drops is something bandied about by experienced cyclists at this time of year, and is advice well worth heeding; covering your knees makes a lot of sense.
These Merston ¾ Bib Tights are made from a Thermo-Stretch fabric which strikes a weight just right for temperatures you can safely describe as chilly. The material is also wind resistant and fleece lined, so your legs feel really well protected on cold days, and a double-layer of material over the front of the knee is a really nice touch.
Their shape makes for a good fit, and comfort is high on the agenda. The front of the bibs come up rather high but does mean an extra dose of frontal coverage, with a long zip making toilet stops easier than it would be if it wasn’t there. Leg articulation is particularly commendable, and gripper tape on the legs stops them shifting about
Inside is the same SilverDry and Coolmax-lined chamois as used on the Merston Bib Tights tested last year, which means comfort in the saddle is assured of. It’s a soft, well-shaped pad which, even after several long rides, gave no cause for concern.
