Garmin have announced the second generation of their Vector power meter pedals, the Vector 2 and 2S.
The main upgrades come in the pedal pods, where the washers of old have been consigned to the past and LED lights have been added to give users important setup and maintenance information.
Installation has also changed. Where the previous Vectors required you to thread the pedal through the pod and tighten onto the crank (with a risk of over-torquing and cracking the pod), the new pods fit over the pedal after installation, removing that danger. Although washers are no longer needed for recessed cranks, they’ll still come with the kit so that riders can achieve their desired Q-factor.
The good news for owners of the first generation Vector or Vector S units is that an upgrade kit will be available to convert your existing pedals. For the Vector the kit will be £119.99, and for Vector S £79.99. The kits will include new pods, pedal cartridges, upgrade tools and upgrade washers.
Pricing on for the Vector 2 (dual sided power measurement) is £1,119.99, while the Vector 2S (single sided) is £749.99.
