Kinesis Racelight 4S Disc and T2
Moving from titanium to aluminium, and the GF_Ti to the 4S – also now available as a disc-ready frame. In fact, while the GF_Ti comes in disc and rim brake-specific versions, there’s only one 4S frame, and it’s now both rim (long drop calipers) and disc compatible.
The compatibility comes via a new carbon fibre fork and dropouts which can be converted from 130mm to 135mm, while the fact that Kinesis have gone for Shimano’s flat mount disc standard gives the frame a clean look whether you’re running discs or not.

Regular readers will know the 4S (previously known as the TK3) is something of an RCUK favourite, combining the lively feel of a race bike thanks to the stiff aluminium chassis and well-considered geometry, in a versatile frame with mudguard and rack mounts and clearance for 32mm tyres (and, of course, now with the option of disc brakes). Other features include a tapered headtube and new internal cable routing.
4S stands for Four Seasons and that’s a clue as to the frame’s raison d’etre, as it’s something which will take on winter training duties before switching into its summer guise by removing the mudguards and perhaps slipping in a fancier set of wheels. It’s affordable, too, at £649.99 for the frameset.
While the 4S has been updated, Kinesis’ other alloy frames remain unchanged for 2016, including the T2 winter trainer and the super-light Aithein race chassis.
