Merida TimeWarp 2010 launched

Merida TimeWarp 2010 launched

Merida has introduced the TimeWarp, its brand new time trial bike for 2010 and a bike that aims to offer riders an aerodynamic and efficient platform. Key to the concept is that the company realises that the demands of riders doing short 10 mile time trials are very different to those completing a 180km Ironman bike section.

Key to the design is the Modular Head Tube System, which entails the top half of the head tube and a section of the top tube being interchangeable to allow the handlebar height to be setup for a riders personal preference, without having to resort to loads of spacers or pointy up stems. Merida claims this system will allow the rider to “lift the stem by 40mm without the use of additional spacers.”

The rest of the bike looks a little more standard by current time trial bicycle designs, with a full carbon frame shaped to offer as little disruption as possible to passing air. Large aero-profiled main tubes with cables routed internally through the downtube, and the rear caliper mounted beneath the bottom bracket.

The Time Warp is available as a frame set and a complete bike. Prices TBC.
