Like nuun, Zym and Camelbak’s Elixir, Motor Tabs are portable nutrition in tablet form that make energising any water source a clean and easy task, but whereas the aforementioned products only provide electrolytes, Motor Tabs are carbohydrate based and will provide an energy boost.
Each tablet contains 16g of carbs (dextrose, sucrose and maltodextrin), 250 mg of sodium and 75g of potassium, and one is enough for a standard 750ml bottle – or in standard hydration bladder terms three should do the trick. The beauty of Motor Tabs is that you can carry a couple of spare tablets in your pack when you might be refilling with water on a longer ride.
Upgrade Bikes, distributors of DMR Bikes, Kinesis, Oval and Reynolds, have recently acquired the UK distribution, as Matt Ryley says: “Sports nutrition is an exciting new avenue for Upgrade, but it partners well with our other brands such as Oval and Reynolds.”
Currently available in Fruit Punch, Lemon-Lime and Orange, the company will launch Grape in early 2008. The Tabs will be available individually for 99p, or more conveniently (at least in the sense that it’ll save you a few trips to the bike shop) in packs of 24.
