New carbon stuff

cagey
under 1000g a pair!

Advanced Carbon Group have brought together two of the finest names in carbon fibre manufacturing and technology to supply their wheels and frames to the UK market

Lightweight Wheels
Jan Ullrich famously used Carbon Sports’ Lighteweight wheels in the Tour and they are one of the lightest wheelsets available. Handmade and so they cost a fair penny. Now Lightweight make discs and track wheels too. The Alpe d’Huez set weigh in at under 1000 grams and were used in the ’04 tour by Ivan Basso, amongst others. Problem is they are only for uphill use… so the latest Obermayer model at 1100g has been launched to meet the demands of downhill too.

Other features include Tune hubs, a microchip built into the rim to record the wheel’s data and a magnet for use with speedo sensors. They may be fast but be warned, they are really expensive too.

Parlee Frames
Made in the US by carbon specialist Bob Parlee. Handmade using the finest materials. There is a variety of types suited to weight and riding style, including a superlight version. Unlike many carbon frames Parlee frames can be made to special order and custom fit.

Prices and availability will be here very soon… and we’ll try to get a test bike too.
