Shimano has introduced an additional edition of the popular Ultegra racing road groupset. Named “Ultegra SL”, it saves 97g in comparison to the standard Ultegra 10-Speed group and is offered in an attractive new “Ice Grey” colour.
Shimano took the opportunity to introduce at the same time an Ultegra branded 10-speed compact crankset (50-34T). It will be available in two colour options: standard silver and “Ice Grey”.
The “Ice Grey” double crankset (52-39T and 53-39T) is 35 grams lighter than the current version. A triple crankset will also be available with a chainring combination of 52-39-30 teeth.
All Ultegra cranksets have been developed with Shimano’s proven HOLLOWTECH II technology, which increases rigidity while saving weight. They also feature Shimano HYPERDRIVE technology with shift ramps and specially designed chainrings for unmatched front shifting performance. Crankarm length choices will be 165, 170, 172.5 and 175mm.
The “Ice Grey” Dual Control Levers (-43g), rear derailleur (-9g) and brake calipers (-10g) save further weight over the standard Ultegra components while performance and durability stay the same.
There will also be a matching colour version of the new Ultegra PD-6620 SPD-SL pedal, which has a wide pedal platform for increased stability and a stainless steel pedal body cover for extra durability. Last but not least, the WH-6600 Ultegra clincher wheel set will be available in “Ice Grey”, completing an attractive group set.
The lightweight “Ice Grey” Ultegra SL group will for sure be an attractive choice for all those road racers searching for maximum performance against price combined with an outstanding design.
