The original Thump from Oakley was the first device to combine a pair of shades and an MP3 player. It looked cool, in a unique way, but the new Thump 2 looks far cooler. [according to Dave – ed]
They’ve taken the chunky GasCan shade and added up to 1gb of memory on the attached MP3 player – that’s about 240 songs or thereabouts. For a little less money there’s a 512mb version (about 120 songs) and those on a budget can opt for the 60 song 256mb model. Prices begin at £199 up to £299 for the 1gb model.
You won’t notice you’re wearing an MP3 player on your head either; they weigh a scant 50 grams. And the lithium-ion battery offers enough juice for all but the longest training sessions, around six hours. Colours available are black or white, and of interest to the short sighted amongst us, there’s the option to get your prescription lenses fitted. Clear lens also available.
