Polar’s RS800 is a feature-laden heart rate monitor aimed at serious endurance athletes. It has been around for a little while and, while not cycling specific, is ideal for those who might also run, skate, kayak or take part in any other sport that fits in with cycling.
To complement the RS800, the company has just released the G3 GPS, a lightweight and compact module that communicates with the RS800 using W.I.N.D (Wireless Integrated Network Device)technology. Speed and distance can easily be recorded without the need for attaching magnets to spokes, handy too if you ride several different bikes. The G3 is a wrist mounted unit, or it can be kept in a pocket or backpack or mounted to the handlebars.
And with Polar’s ProTrainer 5, you’ve got a professional training package for recording your rides and monitoring your progress.
Heart rate, pace and speed, distance, calorie consumption, altitude and total training time are just some of the data the RS800 collects. And with the optional Stride Sensor, you can measure your running cadence and stride length.
