It’s about that time of year when you can ditch the heavy waterproof jacket (well nearly) and instead ride lighter with a windproof at the ready. The new Oxylite from Polaris looks good, boasting lightweight, small pack down size (think tennis balls) and the latest material from Hydrovent. The 15d Nylon is rip proof and coated with a DWR (durable water repellent), a very thin polymer which is treated to the outside of the jacket.
The jackets designed as a general use jacket, as in it’d be fine for a bit of walking/hiking/running as well as mtbing. Despite not being cycling specific, there’s a dropped tail and mesh panels at the side for cooling, Elasticated cuffs with thumb loops to stop the arms riding up, and an Elasticated drawcord hem which can be operated easily with one hand.
All this for a reasonable £59.99. Weight is 102g for a medium, and is available in Pewter Grey or Ice White. Sizes S-XXL. We’ll have one on test soon so watch out for a review, but in the meantime check out www.polaris-apparel.co.uk.
