Top-end clothing manufacturer Rapha has partnered with four frame builders to offer a four-strong hand-made bicycle range.
The Rapha Bicycle Collection joins forces with Beloved, Ira Ryan and Tony Pereira, Independent Fabrication and Cinelli; selected, according to Rapha, because of the mastery of their craft and passion for road cycling.
The manufacturers will produce a Rapha bicycle apiece for no more than two years. The machines share a Rapha colour palette and boast a custom Rapha headbadge, inspired by the serial plate of the Rapha H-Van.
The $5,195 Every Day from Beloved, dubbed ‘the ideal bicycle for racing through the city’, was conceived by Cycle Works Oregon and built by Chris King. The bike features a Sturmey-Archer 5-speed internal rear hub with downtube shifters and a Rapha emblazoned San Marco Regal saddle.
The Continental from Ira Ryan and Tony Pereira, retailing at $5,000, is an all-weather, all-terrain, all-the-time steel bicycle, with SRAM Force drivetrain and Chris King headset, ideal for riding fast and hard whatever the conditions. The Continental has two limited order runs, from January 11 to February 28 and May 15 to June 15.
The $6,795 Independent Fabrication XS is built with the sportive rider in mind. Each bespoke frameset is built with a blend of carbon fibre and titanium, and offered with a choice of Campagnolo Super Record, SRAM Red, Shimano DuraAce, or internally routed Di2 packages, along with wheelset options from Enve Composites and Mavic.
And finally, the Cinelli XCR Criterium Racer (€3,500) comes with seamless Columbus XCR stainless steel tubesets and a geometry suited for the aggressive racer. The Rapha & Cinelli XCR is limited to only 30 frames/fork per year because of the scarcity of the material.
Each bicycle has a limited run – head to www.rapha.cc/bicycle for full specifications and order details.
