Featuring a medium-depth 32mm carbon clincher rim with “aero” cross-section, a weight per pair of 1450g and a price of £899.99 including rim tapes, skewers, two valve extenders, two pairs of carbon-specific brake blocks and a spoke key, to say nothing of tyre levers, the Reynolds Attack wheelset might almost qualify for everyday riding.
Unidirectional carbon-fibre is used for the rim, which has a layer of wear-resistant scrim moulded into the braking surface. The spokes are standard-bend for ease of replacement and a blend of DT Revolution and Competition with nipples concealed within the rim.
The hubs are Reynolds’ own, have differentially sized flanges on the back and are laced radially on the front and radial, non drive; two-cross drive side at the rear for a balanced combination of weight, stiffness and ride comfort.
Skewers are a well-finished version of the now-standard lever design with external cam and have a pronounced curve to the lever.
First impressions out of the box are of well-built wheels with taut spoke tensions, excellent rim truth and a really light feel.
