Simkins Designs recently revealed to us details of its new road brake calipers, which now go under the name of Skelters.

To find out how they perform, Matt at Simkins has sent us a pair to test. And they landed on the RCUK desk today, just in time to be fitted to the Cervelo R3 that I’ll be piloting around this weekends Tour of Wessex. The demanding course should provide a good environment to test them.

The Skelter brakes utilise a patented coupled dual pivot design and are CNC machined from 7075 aluminium. They certainly appear well finished with smooth edges and meticulous attention to detail is apparent.
