If you cast your mind back to last year’s Tour de France, you might remember a few Pro riders sporting these orange and silver versions of the Specialized S-Works and Pro Carbon Shoes. It all came about from a request from Bram Tankink (Quick Step), who wanted to show his support for the Dutch football team at the World Cup. In this modern era of helmets and glasses, which cover a rider;s face and hinder easy identification, the orange shoes certainly made it easy to spot Bram as he was the only Quick Step rider using that colour for the first week. By the time week two of the Tour had arrived so had a lot more orange and silver shoes.
You now for the first time can buy those same shoes. Condor Cycles in London have managed to buy a very limited supply of both models, available at the normal retail price of £169.99 for the S-Works and £139.99 for the Pro Carbon Road. Even if you don’t support the Netherlands, they’ll be something a little different for this year’s Etape.
