Warrick Spence’s Serotta
On a wet day in March we spotted Warrick Spence’s (Cyclefit.co.uk) new bike
at the Wally
Gimber RR, the first round of the Sigma
Sport South East RR Series. The bike is a Serotta HSG Carbon Stock and is
a new line from custom bike maker Serotta. The Stock HSG is as its name suggests
an off-the-peg frame and fork.
Serotta are world renowned for their custom build and ‘tuned’ bikes built to
suit individuals and already have in their range the steel Fuerte stock bike,
but the HSG (High Speed Geometry) is their first carbon stocker.
The HSG Stock features butted carbon tubes designed and developed by Serotta
under the name of ‘Torsion Cor’e. When we talked to
Ben
Serotta in London recently he told us that the bike’s heart remains
faithful to the company’s core values of quality and ride performance. What you
don’t get is a made to measure frame, thereby cutting the price of a top level Serotta.
Also in the ‘Stock’ range is a Titanium frame with carbon stays and the Stock
Road with carbon stays and main tubes.
London domiciled New Zealander Warrick Spence placed second overall in the 2006
National Criterium Series and hopes to take more wins and get the top
spot in 2007 on this bike.
We really liked the sweeping carbon rear stays and the colour glowed in the
murk of a rubbish weather day.
