Team Sky will welcome British bike and car care brand Muc-Off as sponsors for the new season.
The Dorset-based brand will be the official supplier of bike care products to the British team for the coming season, with Sky joining the likes of Wiggle-Honda, Rapha Condor-JLT and Formula One team Force India in using Muc-Off’s products.
Muc-Off, who first developed their famous pink cleaning fluid in 1994, hope the new partnership will help them to continue producing ‘exclusive and industry-changing products’.
Alex Trimnell, Muc-Off managing director, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Team Sky for 2014. As a business which thrives on research, development and innovation we have found a perfect fit with them.
“To work with a team that is willing to invest so much time and energy into developing new technologies is very exciting, innovation is truly at the core of every part of their operation. I personally find this fascinating to be a part of and no doubt there are some real performance gains to be found together.
“We will be working on exclusive technologies which will be developed closely with the team particularly focused around the drive chain and surface coatings.
“2014 promises to be a defining year for Muc-Off and it also happens to be our 20th anniversary so working with Team Sky couldn’t be coming at a more exciting time for us!”
Britain’s only UCI WorldTour team has become famed for its ‘marginal gains’ approach, which has paid off with consecutive Tour de France victories among many other notable successes in their four seasons as a UCI Pro Team.
And head of technical operations Carsten Jeppesen believes the partnership with Muc-Off ensures they will receive the very best in bike care.
He said: “This is an exciting new collaboration for Team Sky and we’re looking forward to working with Muc-Off.
“In our minds they produce the very best cleaning and maintenance products available so it’s great to have them on board.
“Keeping our equipment clean and well maintained is an integral part of bike racing and, as with all of our suppliers, we will work closely with them to help develop their range in the future.”
Team Sky kick off their WorldTour season at the Tour Down Under, with Richie Porte and Geraint Thomas leading the team’s charge in Australia.
