Hmm… aftermarket brake calipers must have a hard time finding a buyer even when they are as light and as nicely made as these items from Token. Nevertheless, there must be a market for them, and with a weight about the same as that of SRAM’s new RED calipers, super-smooth bearings, a full-complement of adjusters for throw, spring tension and free play and an exceptional if visually unmistakeable CNC-machined finish, Token’s Accura dual-pivots undoubtedly make a desirable alternative to the major manufacturers’ offerings.

The brake shoe pattern is the same as Shimano’s, with a spherical mount to permit perfect block alignment. Cable adjustment is secured via a threaded cable stop with counternut, making it slightly slower to use than the self-detaining type. On the other hand, this one is unlikely to fill with muck or jam up over time. The centre bolt’s ‘top hat’ nut is in aluminium and has a Torx head, Token supplies two Torx keys with a selection of lengths with the brakes.
